Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs
The Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs is Syracuse University’s home for innovative, interdisciplinary teaching and research in the social sciences, public policy, public administration and international relations. It includes America’s No. 1 ranked graduate program in public affairs, offering highly regarded professional degrees alongside advanced scholarly degrees in the social sciences. It’s also home to undergraduate programs across the full spectrum of social sciences.
Curriculum
Requirements for the major include 48 credit hours and proficiency in a modern second language:
- Four required introductory courses
- Three advanced courses in each of two concentrations
- Three research methods courses
- Senior seminar/capstone research project.
The B.A. entails a highly flexible course of study drawing on all of the social sciences departments. Students have ample opportunity for study abroad, internships, participation in faculty-led research projects and membership on the Model United Nations team, among many other possibilities.
